Our Review Methodology

Last updated July 20, 2026

Most porn directories rank sites without saying how, or who made the call. PornSurfer publishes the actual process behind every review and every category ranking, so you can judge for yourself whether to trust it.

A Different Checklist for Every Site Type

A free tube site, a premium paysite, a live cam platform, and an AI porn generator don't compete on the same things, so we don't grade them on the same checklist:

Every Claim Is Checked or Sourced

A fact in a PornSurfer review is either something we checked directly against the live site on a specific date, or something attributed to a named source (traffic estimates from a service like SEMrush, for example). We don't guess or fabricate a number, a feature, or a category. When we can't verify something with the tools we have (accurate real-time traffic, ad behavior, translation quality), we say so explicitly instead of writing around the gap.

Named Authors, Real Testing

Every published review carries a named author from our editorial team who actually tested the site, plus the date it was last checked, not an anonymous score pulled from a spreadsheet. Meet the people behind PornSurfer on our authors page.

How We Rate

A star rating is only ever docked for a real trust or quality gap: missing owner transparency, a broken or empty advertised feature, hidden fees, an aggressive rebilling setup, or missing legal basics. We never dock a site for being a niche, single-performer, or positioning choice, that's a fit question for the reader, not a quality flaw, and we say so directly when it applies.

Corrections, Openly Logged

Sites change. When we recheck a review and something's different, the review's correction log records the date and what changed, rather than silently editing the page. A review stays marked as in progress, not published, while a real evidence gap remains open.

How We Make Money

PornSurfer is supported primarily through affiliate partnerships: when you sign up for a site through a link on this page, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That relationship never changes a score, our editorial team rates and ranks sites independently of it. Full detail is in our disclaimer.
